Citizens Advice and Macmillan Cancer Support

Citizens Advice Bureaux in Leicestershire and Rutland have formed a partnership with Macmillan Cancer Support to provide a free integrated service for cancer patients, their families and carers across the two counties.

Each Bureau has employed a part-time adviser to provide information and advice designed to meet the unique needs of people affected by cancer.Help and advice is available to assist people in the following areas:*

Benefits — We offer full benefit checks to identify any unclaimed benefit entitlements which may help to improve your income and we can assist you in completing claim forms. *

Money Advice and debt — We can help maximise your income and deal with your debts. We can also help individuals apply for grants to help with any special needs or requirements. *

Housing — Landlord refusing to do repairs? Difficulties accessing suitable accommodation? Need adaptations to your property? We offer knowledgeable advice on Housing matters. *

Employment — Problems with pay, sickness benefits, flexible working hours, discrimination, dismissal, redundancy and so on? We can advise you of your rights.*

Family and Personal — Parental rights and responsibilities, relationship problems, bereavement, and more.*

Consumer issues —Problems with unsatisfactory goods or services.

Contact us on 0300 456 8400. Our help-line is open 5 days a week, Monday-Friday between 9am and 4pm. Calls to this number will cost no more than calls to national geographic 01 or 02 numbers. A brief assessment will be made and we will decide how best we can help you. This may involve a call back, an appointment being made at your local bureau or outreach centre, or, in certain circumstances, a home or hospital visit. Referrals from other organisations are welcome.
